Trying to get sky to second tv for now as will get a loftbox after xmas which should make it easier

currently second tv is connected to tv aerial which gives me rtes/tv3/tg4 now i would like to run cable from RF2 on sky plus box to tv but second aerial input is taken by tv aerial will a y connector on the aerial input on second tv do the job?

if not s video with audio cables i presume will work but is there any way of gaining ir(remote control of channels) control using this method

as with rf option you can get magic eye to give ir(remote control) of channels at second tv

No reason why the cable and the Y-connector shouldn't work. If you're using a magic eye, just make sure you plug the cable into the magic eye first, before plugging that into the Y-connector. If it was the other way round (Y-connector in between cable and magic eye) you'd probably lose the remote control signal.

thanks for reply havent tried yet but hopefully it will work

this is info i found on it looks like its designed to do what i want in reverse

Y Aerial Splitter : Y Aerial Splitter for allowing you to run two TVs off one Aerial. Moulded in white plastic with 1 male input and 2 female output connectors. 75 ohm for use with TV or FM Aerials.

if this doesnt work is there any of getting sky box with uk card and sky plus tuned into second tv via RF?

    Hi Beolight,

I want to do exactly the same thing. Have you had a chance to try this yet? Did the Y Connector work? Any other advice?

    Thanks.

    @ radiofoot

havent tried it yet as refuse to pay 6/8 euros for a y connector in electric shops need to get onto ebay

anyways heres what i done last night which gives me 80% satisfaction

to recap i have 2 tvs a sky plus box and a second sky digibox with uk freeview card, (no vcrs or recorders)

main aerial feed goes to aerial in on sky plus box
RF 1 goes to aerial in on sky digibox (freeview)
RF2 on sky plus box goes to aerial on second tv
RF1 on sky digibox goes to aerial on main tv

    what this gives me is

    Main TV everything is perfect
i.e tuned thru aerial is RTE 1/2 TV3 TG4 cant get BBC/UTV on aerial here because of location
tuned thru RF is skydigibox freeview and sky plus box

second all of the above except picture from sky digibox(freeview) isnt perfect a bit choppy but watchable also with magic eye i get remote control of sky plus

would be nice if the one magic eye was able to control both digibox but no joy there dont know if adding second magic eye would do this

i tried scart adapter next on sky digibox to second tv to use svideo out but picture is composite perfect but black and white only

scart to scart will work perfect i imagine but long 5 metre plus scart cable i shudder to think of price in irish shops

would be interested if any more experience can tell me if second digibox feed to second tv can be improved

I haven't set this up yet as I am waiting for a friend to loan me his drill (he has a heavy duty drill) to get through the 12 inch external wall on my house.

However, I did try combining the digibox RF out with the aerial on a y-connector and this worked perfectly. I had to change the digibox settings to overcome interference first - Services 4 - 0 - 1 RF out settings. I changed the setting from 68 to 21 (these are the max and min values) and got perfect reception. Maybe this would help with the picture quality issue you are having?
