what is the problem with how they operate in Ireland? DO they treat those who cannot get real cable in Ireland any differently to those who can? If they charged more to those 75% then i could see that as an abuse of a monopoly but as they dont what is the problem?

Ofcom don't exactly care if Sky have 75% of the Irish market.

But they do care in parts of Britain where Sky is the only pay-tv provider for some customers, where there is no choice. And also (more importantly, imo) where they act as platform gamekeeper and programming poacher.

But we've also seen when there has been a threat to Sky, the competitors encryption gets shagged to bits.

    /me hears black helicopters.
