Do you realise this is Most Improved player of the year? We already had Boards Offline Player of the Year which nicnicnic won...

Has he improved the most over the last 12 months compared to what he was last year?? That is what this Award is about, not another who played the best this year...

    cool down...lol

As to be Jay for me, a very good regular player, but as really step up to the mark this year and unlucky not to win live player of the year. As for Nicky, he's been a good player since he was about 3.

    I voted for TheChamp87

I think to be comparing the rate of improvement of some players on this poll to others is ridic.

Im disgusted not to have got a nomination for this. Is Reggie and Gavin weren`t on holidays I`d be seething.

    Who won the toss? :)

BTW DVDfan got my vote, a tremendous run in moving up the levels :)

But you were already a knowledgeable player at the start of the year, judging by your posts. Maybe if the poll was held last year? And Phantom Lord could probably have the same complaint.

Btw, it pains me to say this because I am win at live poker and lose online - but it is FAR more impressive to have worked your way up to 1 / 2 and be winning regularly there than it is to have shown a significant improvement playing in live 1 / 2 PL. And I don't really care what your winrate is in live cash or tournaments - online is just a much, much higher standard.

As such, and with all due respect to the champ (and other good players like nicnicnic, Halfbaked, Ian, semibluff who are out of an "improved" category IMO), anyone who has spent the last year going from 25nl to 200nl really is the clear winner here.

but online poker clearly isnt real

heh, and i wasn't even nominated, seriously tho- Ian and cardshark going from playing 100nl to being midstakes regs is obviously way more than of an achievement than beating 100nl so i voted for ian obv.

    - You made 100nl last January / February, yeah?
    - Ian was already mixing it at 2 / 4 at the start of the year, yeah?
    - Reggie was already a 1 / 2 reg, yeah?

You are all better than me of course, just saying. :)

(edit, wait, i wasn't arguing for my inclusion at all, just the other two)

no i don't think so, i remember playing 100nl with them not too long ago.

    meh, nm

I wa splaying .50/1 in April when i left work (and thats what i was bankrolled for). I voted for BCB though I could have voted for 5 or 6 people on that list and I think DVDFan is a worthy winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

I voted for DVDFan because I think he was the person who I saw climbing the levels throughout the year and think his understanding of the game has increased hugely over the last 12 months.

But personally I think the jump from 1/2 to 2/4, 3/6 and 5/10 is much, much more difficult than the climb from 25NL to 200NL (basically because I didn't have the dedication/skill/discipline to make it, there's always next year ).

But DVDfan still gets my vote because I think in pure Poker terms he has improved the most.
