heat in freshly plastered room?

Hi, was talking to someone who's just moved into a new build, and apparently they can't have the heat on more than 18 degrees for the first year cause will crack the walls. Has anybody else heard about this? I've got freshly plastered walls in my house and I'm getting worried about it. thanks, J
