Updating PSP to latest version from 1.5 give blank screen

    Hi guys,

    I'm trying to update my PSP from version 1.5 to the latest official Sony version.
    I never use any of the games from the memory sticks and have a few new games on UMD that won't play.
    I've downloaded the latest update file from the http://ie.playstation.com site, copied it to the memory stick into PSP\GAME\UPDATE,
    I've then run the update from the PSP, it looks like it is going to do something, but then opens up a screen on the PSP with an x and o at the bottom, no visable text, and the generic PSP background

    Any ideas ?

    Is it possible that i need to download to version 2.00 first and then the latest ?

    Never seen symptoms like that but try to update to 2.71FW from here

    Cheers for that.

    It gave the same problem though, but i solved it by having a bit of a play around with it.

    I reset it to the default settings and ran the update then. And it worked a treat, now im running v2.71
