    Hey guys,

I recently moved house and last nite got around to clear out the 3rd bedroom which is going to be my "boys" room. I have a 3 PC's now set up via a LAN and was wondering do ye have any suggestions as to what are "classic" LAN games to play?

My favourite one so far is Quake 2. Anyone have other suggestions? I am looking for action\FPS ones really.

    Cheers.
    SIM.

    P.S Merry Christmas Board Members!!!!!

    desert combat?
ok ..not that "old" but it'll run on most things
    starcrafts another good one.
Doom (via zdoom or jdoom its a lot easier to setup a lan game)

    QuakeWorld (based on Quake 1)
    Quake 3
    Age of Empires 2
I have a soft spot for Cossacks: European Wars
Was never a fan of Starcraft myself, but I'm sure it should be on this list.
I sometimes resort to bog standard Half-life Deathmatch too.

If you're feeling particularly nostalgic, there's also Doom95. The original Unreal Tournament is still playable too.

There were loads of FPS games in the late 90s that were OK. Usually based on Quake or Halflife though.

I remember many happy hours spent playing Quake II in college. Did ID release it freeware?

They released the source code. The content is still copyrighted and can't be redistributed but the actual rendering engine has spawned some interesting games like Alien Arena, Tremulous and Nexuiz. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if the Quake II engine is used in those games :o. They're well worth checking out for a LAN though. As for other mainstream older games, I'd highly recommend Warcraft III. It's the only RTS that has ever managed to hold my attention. If you're into larger-scale warfare then how about Shogun?

Quake 2 and Total Annihilation were my main staples. Handy because you didn't need a 3d card for either.

tbh counter strike is ****e with anything less than 8 people imo.

go for proper all out fps' like quake 1/2/3, unreal etc.

if you like strategy then total annihilation/starcraft was/is brilliant.
