Sky v Freesat

I got rid of SKY 6 months ago as we basically weren't watching tv that much with new babies to look after. However, with christmas coming up, we're getting sick of rte1 and 2 on an indoor ariel and are thinking about putting our sat dish back up and phoning SKY for reconnection. However, looking through this forum, it seems that a lot of people think freesat is the way to go (no monthly bills etc) plus no hassle with SKY passing on your details, or the trouble you have to go through when you call them and are put on hold for ever:mad:.

So is freesat all its cracked up to be or are there disadvantages, i.e. no local stations unless we get a separate ariel?. If this is the case, how would we get the sat channels and rte on the one tv set or would be have to change cables when switching between the two........ yes I'm confused at this stage but I hope you're not!!!

If you sky box uses a scart cable (which it should) you do not have to change cables to watch RTE just change channels on your tv remote
