Just watched the 1999 RSA Chase on youtube. Considering Looks like Trouble was a very good winner of the Gold Cup subsequently how good was this horse who'd have beaten him 20 lengths on the bridle? I had actually forgot just how well he was going when he came down. I always look back and thank god I wasn't yet in full time employment at the time as I'd have dropped an absolute fortune. Norman Williamson's post-race interview is painful to listen to.

Yes Nick Dundee would have been a monster of the highest calibre for sure.

To hammer a very high class gold cup winner as Nick Dundee would have done if standing up would be one of the all time classic performances. Such a pity we'll never know just how good he would have turned out to be.

He joined the long list of horses-Golden Cygnet,Fench Holly etc, who never realised their potential.

Nick Dundee looked to be exceptional judging by the way he was travelling
    that day.

After listening to O'grady on tv a couple of weeks ago, golden cygnet has to be the legend that never was.........

An absolute superstar if ever there was one, unbelievable performance at Cheltenham where he nearly ran away with Boots, and then while still a novice was cantering over his "superiors" in the Scottish Champion Hurdle when he met his demise.

Would love to hear Niall Maddens impressions of the horse.

Ejog and breaking his horses down - no better combination in racing.
