Okay no way should my broadband be this slow, its like being in the stone age on dial up here. I don't know how to adjust it or what to adjust except I've tried plenty of different DNS codes and it slows itself back down eventually. Any pointers?

I had the same problem for a neighbour who had just bought a new dell vista machine and got BB . Slowed right down to slower than dial up . I uninstalled Norton and up she flew , so I just installed AVG free anti virus and they happy as Larry.:D

well first of if you are going to go fo ZA keep and eye on the install ...

You might also want to be careful of these in the future!!

    Webroot Spy sweeper

Zone Alarm to it also come pre ticked so as you have to opted out..

"ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker" toolbar is an optional during install. The toolbar now uses the AskJeeves/Ask.com searchengine. It is pre-checked during the ZA install and doesn't provide any notice about the inclusion of this search engine. It only says that the toolbar gives extra protection. No EULA for the search engine is included, either. From what I understand.”

Just a heads up in case anyone is concerned.

Woops, didn't even realise they had added that, it'sages since I'vee installed it.

Windows Defender should meet your needs as well.

Defender is not useful. It came with Vista Ultimate on my new rig, and I keep it auto-updated, and it has not caught a single piece of malware since activated last February (while other programmes in my security bundle have trapped a few).
