    I had another look at Dell's XPS M1530 15" Laptop. Looking at the specs for the €1299 version - it's pretty hot for the specs and slimline. Only downers I see are:

    * the max res of 1280x800 (not a biggie)
    * only 3 usb slots (also not a biggie)
    * slight worry about the noise of the HDD.

    What I like is:

    * 2Ghz Duo Core min.
    * 8600M GT (256Mb) and uses GDDR3 ram - and can run the likes of Oblivion
    * 250Gb drive (5400rpm as opposed to 7200rpm) - still ok
    * slim design
    * 2Gb ram (go for 4Gb a year later but not off dell)
    * light!

    It's a heavier version of the xp1330 - The 13.3" would be nice but I would like video occasionally.

    But I was wondering if any boardies have this yet? There is a 2 week wait to get it - but yes, it ain't bad. Price is high - but still cheap within that range. Comes with a remote control. No XP though just Vista.
    Penyrn comes out from Jan 8th - might take a month or so - to filter down and improve pricing. And Dell don't have this current model up to decent production volumes yet. General opinion seems to be that people like it. Let me know who's got it and what ya think.

    Here the notebookreview review:

    For those who have this - does the hdd sound loud in the chassis? Apparently the chassis is responsible not the hdd. Let me know! :)

    Actually there is a rumour (sorry uncertainty) about the 8600M GT packed in here. Sometimes it comes with GDDR3 ram or ordinary DDR2 ram. Has everyone here who ordered got GDDR3 ram in their XPS M1530 laptop? There is a fair difference between the two ram types.
    The notebookreview site indicates that most comes with GDDR3 - but this could be a regional thing.
