A documentary film about legendary war time photographer Jim Nachtwey.

    http://www.war-photographer.com/en/

I only watched this last night and was completely and entirely blown away by how powerful these images were and even more so by the fact that I could probably never take photos in those situations, of people grieving, living in absolute poverty and other horrible horrible circumstances. What is truely fascinating is the insight about how he thinks and how he relates to the people he photographs. There is one particular section about a man being chased to his inevitable death by a mob in Jakarta and Jim was with him right until they killed him.

Not for the feint hearted but I guarantee you'll never look at a camera the same way again ...

That film is really good. I just have to see it at least twice a year to realise what is important in photography, at least for me.
It is going to change your point of view on photography, life, comfortable life, money, wars for oil and attempts against genocidies...

Played this during the last charleville trip and had people complaining about it was not happy enough.

    I loved it myself.

You can pick it up from thousands of online stores you just have to look.

Yeah, I watched that in Charleville. It's pretty in your face about the aftermath and displays of grief from the very start, Kosovo features a good bit and what you see isn't the reminiscing of some WW2 photog voiced over a slideshow of the pictures they took, it's very real.

For the next outing, I vote for something a bit more upbeat, say... like that video of the nude photography?? Anyone?? :-)
