The official one comes with a very good game (short, but very good...)

I am not too pushed about getting the game. I got Umbrella Chronicles and the Gameware gun is only 14.99.

Doesn't this kind of defeat the whole purpose of it?

I think the Gameware one might do that as it says on the box it says you can change the gun.

    What?
No, not at all. The purpose of them is to turn the wiimote into a gun, provide a trigger to press the B button etc.

The zapper is two hand operated, one hand on nunchuk, one on trigger (wiimote)

    A gun mount like this
    VWIOT002200_02_L.jpg
is single handed, it would allow for more movement I would imagine, handgun vrs machinegun

That gun is supposed to be good, better than the Zapper.

Given that sword games would need to use the IR for any kind of decent tracking, that sword would be pretty rubbish.

Fine for the waggle sword fighting in Zelda, but you'd have to take it off any time you wanted to fire an arrow or use any of the other aiming stuff.

Any game which requires the IR for aiming the sword isn't going to treat the Wiimote as a sword anyway, so you're not likely to attach a sword to it. I do like the look of the hand gun though, I can see the advantages of having the nunchuck separate indeed.

I got the Gameware one and I am happy with it. It makes Umbrella Chronicles a bit more fun to play.

does umbrella chronicles comes with any light gun?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

No, you have to buy one seperate and I think it is something like €40 for the offical one and that comes with Zelda Cross Training game.

    Smyths have this one:

for €13, although there's actually a little hinge, where the muzzle would be, that secures the Wiimote. The grip is designed to look like a Glock, and it feels nice and solid and gunly. It even has a little sight along the top.

The only games I know of are... Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Link's Crossbow Training and Ghost Squad, which I don't know much about, but looks a bit lame.

    Shame.

Where can you get these as looking to get one. Looked at the one in Game with the free Zelda game and it looks crap

Any good games similar to the likes of time crises on PS that are available on the wii ?

    Uh...

    See my previous post.

    Gulp

Yes did see that but was wondering if there were other games that you may have missed that are out or due to be released in the future

Also wondering other than the gun in Smyths was looking to see were other zappers are available. May have a look at the Smyths one this weekend and debate if I will buy one of the games you mentioned

    :D

    Fair enough.

Done a bit of digging since anyway; Nearest to Time Crisis you'll find is probably Ghost Squad, which is based on an existing arcade game and feels like it.

Resident Evil, frustratingly, is on-rails. The Nunchuk tilts your view a little, and that's all. This pisses me off, because even on the venerable old PSone, you could walk your character yourself in RE: Survivor. It just
feels like a big step backwards, in those terms. However, as a zapper game, I'd say it's probably the best one out so far.

The game I'm really looking forward to is Medal of Honour: Heroes 2. The MOH series has gotten a bit stale, it's true, but I think the gun will add a bit of oomph, and the multiplater looks great.

What about the below games some already mentioned can you use the Zapper with these ?

Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy
    Brothers in Arms: D-Day
    Castle of Shikigami 3
    Chicken Shoot
    Geometry Wars: Galaxies
    Ghost Squad
    Gundam 0079
    Heatseeker
    Karous
    Link's Crossbow Training
    Medal of Honor Heroes 2
    Metal Slug Anthology
    Resident Evil 4
    Scarface
    Splinter Cell: Double Agent
    Target: Terror
The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
The Monkey King: The Legend Begins
    Ultimate Duck Hunting
    Worms: A Space Oddity

I have an official Nintendo one, and got the Gameware one cheap with Ghost Squad. The trigger on the Gameware one is a load of balls, I'm thinking of taking it back. Haven't tried any others, the official one works nicely, but I do like the look of those pistol versions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

I have no probs with the trigger on mine.

Really? Maybe the one I got is just a bad one - there's way too much travel on the trigger compared to the Nintendo one and it's squeaky - my finger does be in bits after a level of Ghost Squad when I use it. I seriously don't like it.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has tried both and how they think they compare? I'm definitely thinking I should take it back and try swapping it for another one now, two player just isn't the same when one person is using the Wiimote.
