    Making the trek home over Christmas and some cheap (but fancy!) wheels would be nice. I usually use Arguscarhire.ie, this years quote for Dec 22nd pick-up and Jan 5th drop off in Dublin airport (14 days) is;

    Avensis or similar for ~EU890
    Astra or similar for ~EU720
    Both include all insurance etc. with typical excess (~EU1200 on the avensis!)

    Any better deals going around?

    Click http://www.autoeurope.com/car.cfm?action=3&quoteid=9686104&errorfix=true

    Click on pickup and drop off locations i.e airport.....and then next should be cheap enough. Let me know what you think

    Always had good service from Enterprise. They do a lot of fleet/long-term business rental so tend to be cheap in the off-peak business times

    Thanks all, Enterprise looks good, will give them a call in the morning to check out whether they will pick-up at the airport, great value! Have used Argus in the past and got what seemed to be the best deals going, at least compared to Avis, Hertz etc.

    Also their weekend rentals are nice. rent 4x and the 5th is free.

    Looks like Enterprise is not going to work out, have had to change my travel plans to the 23rd, won't arrive til almost midnight and they're sold out in the airport/closed in other locations. Had a play around on the Argus website just to see how much they are taking the proverbial. This is what I got;

    Dec 23~Jan 8 Avensis EU1017 or EU64 a day
    Astra EU971 or EU61 a day

    Dec 23 to 31 is about the same per day as above

    Jan 1 to Jan 8 Avensis EU163 or EU23 a day
    Astra EU129 or EU18 a day

    Triple price is a piss take, particularly when they hold the high rate into Jan if the booking spans dec/jan instead of an average rate, not sure if it is Argus or the companies they get their cars from. As far as I know Argus don't have any fleet of their own. Howver, to put it into perspective, for what the Avensis costs in Dec, I can rent Mitsubishi Pajero/Volvo S60/Audit A4 for similar or less money in Jan!
