Tents at festivals

    Hi there,

I was just wondering, when you're at a big music festival which involves a few days of camping, where do you leave all your stuff when you're going to watch the gigs? leave them in your tent? just wondering, cos i'm a festival virgin! seems a bit dodgey leaving all your gear in your tent which anyone could just rob.

    Any help appreciated. thanks!

please note: i'm not looking for advice about any particular festival as i realise the restrictions on this site.

Yeah leave everything in the tent. the trick is not to bring anything you don't want to loose. Otherwise you'll be a wreck all week.
I've heard of people bringing Ipods and getting them nicked, imo it serves them right for being so stupid

Personally when I used to go to festivals (many moons ago now) I just had the clothes on me back and money for drink.
That approach doesnt really seem to be in vogue anymore from what Iv seen though so Id just follow the advice already given here, bring only the essentials.
As Noelie already pointed out, why on gods earth would you want to bring something like an ipod for example to a feckin music festival.

Depends where you're going. If it's Ireland, don't bring anything important, and take everything with you. If it's abroad, you don't have the luxury of not bringing important stuff. However, in my experience it's far more secure.

I've been to several festivals in eastern Europe and don't have a bad word to say regarding leaving stuff in my tent. I left my passport, glasses, mp3 player, everything in there. However I did hear stories about other ppl's phones being taken, so I guess, like everywhere, it does happen. My advise would be wear combats and use all the 4 or 5 pockets for your stuff.

Another bit of advise I got was to not pad-lock your tent as that shows you're hiding something, and if they want to know what that is, they'll just slash the tent and walk in.

id agree with Mr. s here, no harm to carry a small back pack for festivals, u may think it looks uncool but betetr safe than sorry is the approach! also at alot of festivals (especially on the contenent) they have lockers you can rent for the weekend etc if you want to dump the passport etc there.

As someone said, don't bring stuff you wouldn't want to lose.
If it's abroad, there's usually lockers you can rent in which you can stash your passport and stuff.

i work at these and there is almost a 90% chance your tent will be fleesed. just bring old clothes and lots of drink:D.
