Short Term Money Problem

Hi, I really feel uncomfortable doing this, but feel that doing it under my own boards.ie profile might help people realise Im being genuine and im not just some weirdo...before anyone draws any conclusions....this thread is about asking for advice and not begging.

Basically, on a trip to Glasgow last week I lost a lot of money on the train or at the airport (due to rushing through check in and getting on a connecting train straight away when I got off the plane I cant be sure exactly where I lost the money). I admit that was my own fault.

I phoned my bank from Glasgow Central Station to seek advice (such as emergency funds) and they did not provide any nor would they grant me an overdraft. I had taken the money out of my account because I was unsure as to whether or not the bank would charge me a fee abroad for withdrawing my own money from an ATM here. I have not been given any assistance from my bank whatsoever despite the fact that any money they forward me could be repayed in full (no question) before Dec 31st.

Im still in Scotland until Christmas Eve. I know that I will run out of money and it will become extremely arkward to simply hang around a hotel room for the entire day or just walk the streets. Anyway, having paid for accomidation and some food Ive realised Ive very little money left (but dont worry I do have a ticket home). I have nothing worth selling with me and no way of obtaining money that I can think of. I have no credit cards or cheques and I dont know what to do? Any advice?

As Ive said before this is just a short term problem but as you can see its a little arkward:(

Do you have any friends or family who could send you some money? Maybe a credit card?

It christmas time and shops are always looking for an extra helping pair of hands. Maybe you should get some casual work or something.

yeah surely friends or family could send you money or put money into your account, western union maybe? It's not like you wont be able to pay them back!

Family & friends would be most likely to wire you money.
    Alternatively cut your trip short?

Get friends or family to wire some money through Western Union. Alternatively, give them you full account details/sort code, go to a branch and you can have access straight away. What are you doing in Glasgow anyway? If seeing friends, can't they perhaps lend you some money?

Work in a pub for the next week o so, and you'll get the equal of about €300.

Don't shave, get a carry-out coffee, drink it, sit beside a bank machine. Works in Dublin.
