A typical horse? Eh well some horses are tiny and some are huge. But take something in between; 160-170 cm. A horses heigth is measured from the ground to the horses withers. The weathers are located at the base of the mane similar to between our shoulder blades. Just curious Victor as to why you want to know!

I want to know how high a wall should be such that the rider won't fall the other side of the wall, where there is a steep drop. The route is regularly used by horses, so its just something I'm conscious of.

What would the absolute highest be?

absoloute highest horse or wall? The highest horse could be 180-200 cm. Are you afraid of someone falling jumping the wall?

i imagine that he is referring to a path or something..

Keeping in mind that horses can buck, and if you are trying to prevent a a rider from falling down a drop, then a good sized wall (1.5m or so) with a wire fence on top will do it..
