To follow this thread, please go to the "shooting" board and look at the "Research Help" thread.

Sure can but I doubt it would be of much interest to you guys.

Its strictly a scientific, statistical comparisson.

    Thanks for your help guys.

There is no such thing as a " scientific, statistical comparisson" when it comes to either of our sports Hivemind, If you continue with the prevalent arguments coming from the IAS, you intend to use the statistics to demonstrate why airsoft is different from "real steel" and hence why you should be treated differently from a legal perspective. I have pointed out before why this is a head in the sand approach, based on the UK experience, and why you should be seeking closer association with the other shooting sports, not trying to distance yourself from them. After all, airsofters like airsoft because of the gun shaped objects you get to play with, despite all of your arguments to the contrary. Why don't you play airsoft hurley?

    <snip>

So ... this is basically an attack on me personally, spread across two forums based on assumptions you have made steming for your own personal prejudices.

    Well, at least its consistent.

why bring this over to the airsoft forum leupold? if its being discussed in another forum then you should just leave it therei nstead of causing sh*t over here, he was only looking for information.,.,

So what, non airsofters aren't allowed an opinion here now?

The content of hivemind's post involved you guys, leupold is letting you see whats being discussed about you and trying to get more people to partake in it.

You've been around long enough to know you don't cross post across forums. You certainly don't start up a thread directed at a single users comments.

well firstly, most of you non airsofters know nothing about the sport and still come on here bitching like little girls.,
as said above, theres no point in posting the same comversation across 2 forums.,

Of course non-airsofters are welcome to come in and have a discussion. Whats not welcome is personal attacks and sh*t stirring. We get enough hassle from the nervous-mother factions without having to put up with it from folks who should know better.

The content of my post on the shooters forum is about a white paper that I have been working on for some time - something nearly everyone here is aware of already.

Leupolds post is personally motivated and part of a different and ongoing argument regarding definition of Airsoft.

I'd like to request this thread be closed because it is going ot turn into a flame war.

We have had a few guys from the shooting forum over here today throwing stones and its only going to foster bad blood and poor community relations.

The two sports might be entirely different but there is no reason we shouldnt get along.

The way I saw it, leupold was bringing people's attention to the post, not recreating the argument here. As it involves these people directly, whats the harm?

No sport, real steel or airsoft should have its name held responsible by one person. Stop trying to provoke a negative reaction by outlining the one bad post in the middle of two intelligent replys.

Problem is, Hivemind feels he's been attacked. If leupold wants to discuss the association between the sports a more tactful approach would have received a better response.

you probably dont hear about the amount of people who are told to read the stickies and get the facts before they start crying about it,.,
simple rules apply., know the facts before argueing.,

I've read the other post and all it appears to be is somebody who is looking for certain information asking the best people to ask.

Hivemind does not appear to be discussing airsoft behind anyones back, just looking for accurate information for a project that has been spoken about before..

Whilst I can apprieciate Leupolds sentiment in wanting to make us aware of Hiveminds post, I feel it was unwarranted in these circumstances.

The actual reason I was looking for hte information (those of you paying attention would have spotted it already) is the muzzle energy. Airsoft is legally limited to 1 joule whereas 6mm Remington, for example, is 2090+joules of muzzle energy.

It was the comparisson of energy (with which you could draw comparissons with tennis ball machines, a struck golf ball etc) and not of objects.

There you go Hivemind, you are making my argument for me. You miss the point totally that the great unwashed public does not care about such things, they are only concerned with the bit you keep missing(which is the bit the Government concentrates on), that you play with things that look like guns. Your total argument amounts to a claim that you are playing and please, public, do not take any notice of what we are playing with!

Let it go lads. Arguing over nonsense and semantics is what people like this want from us. It makes us appear to be immature and out of control. It's annoying and its insulting when we get things like this or the earlier nonsense with the "this equipment" thread - but we have to rise above that kind of drek and focus on more important things, like having fun!
