I am a fan of Gangster movies and have seen probably all of the well known Gangster movies and was actually surprised that there arent more Well known Gangster films from Italy the country most widely associated with the Mafia. This was/is going cheap in HMV so i picked it up and was very impressed, although i didnt really like the Lebanese bit (though im not sure if i just didnt like his character).

I wonder if many others have seen this and what your opinions are on it and also if there are any other good Italien Gangster movies that people know of?

rented it when it first came out over here. fantastic film. one of the best gangster films out there. it rivals everything america has done. the only issue with that romanzo criminale is that it's very long... but the end of the film is worth the wait.

This was the first film in recent memory that I stopped watching half-way through. It just bored me to tears and the characters felt so hollow. Perhaps it would have ment more if I'd stuck with it till the end, but honestly now, I just couldnt be bothered.

I understand why you say that afterall i said i didnt particularily like the Lebanese perios of the film (its split in three where the focus is on the differing leaders i.e lebanese, Ice and Dandy) but i was very happy i perserved as like most very good movies it seemed to get better as it went on.

I think the first section needed the characters developed more so, they just seemed to go immediatley from kids to Gangsters thinking they can run everything, prehaps thats why the second 2 periods seemed much better as lebanese's time served as character development for Ice and Dandys reign.
