How can I tell if I can get Sky+

I have moved into a house with a sky dish shared between me and the neighbour and have brought my own sky+ box.

I'd like to know if I can get Sky+ before signing up.

There seem to be four cables coming through the attic - two to me and two to the neighbour but I only have one cable coming out the wall downstairs.

Do you need two cables coming out the wall going into the Line1 and Line2?

I can get all the free channels ok. Is there any way to test whether Sky+ will work?

If I phone Sky will they know?

Any help would be much appreciated :) I have looked through hundreds of postings but most go into a bit too much detail and assum too much knowledge :)

    Many thanks

You need two cables coming from the dish to where the Sky+ box will be.

Sharing a dish between two properties is not recommended. Better to get your own dish. If you're getting a new Sky+ subscription then Sky will come and install a dish for you anyway.

Find your other cable and figure out where its going , then route it to the sky + box , you should then have all sky + functionality albeit in one room only.

It sounds to me like maybe the previous owner only had sky ( not + ) and was only using one cable , maybe he used the other in another room or just left it behind the wall.
