I'm using a non-branded Nokia N95 on 3 network and have the X-series Silver add-on. I've tried to download the Mobilcast application which i can do successfully but when i try to install it it comes up with "Certificate Error. Contact the application supplier."

    Anyone any ideas??

I'm having the same problem after upgrading to v20 vanilla.Going to have to wait until Three roll out their v20 flavour which should be sometime in January.

3 wrap things up in their own certificate, which is only installed in their versions of the firmware - hence the error...

    Anyway,
I've sucessfully installed skype, msn, and mobilcast on my phone...

Get mobilcast from http://zeus.melodeo.net/mc/ on your mobile.

The skype application is actually iskoot - get it direct from iskoot here

Live Messenger is actually the old MSN messenger. You can get it here

    Good luck..

I got mobilcast working on my unlocked three E61, its no great shakes, the Nokia Podcasting app is far better, although it doesn't do the streaming thing like mobilcast.

You can download the jars/sis files from the three website if you don't have the Three certificate by using Mozilla Firefox on your desktop and changing the User Agent with a plugin. Then browse to the three homepage from your desktop browser.

    http://mobile.3ireland.ie/sdf/internethome

You should do this while connecting your desktop machine to three via your mobile (i.e. tethered/dialup)

In order to get the jars to install you edit the jad file...

Disclaimer: You might be violating Three's terms & conditions by doing this.

I did this in order to get the Three MSN Messenger (java) app & Three Skype (sis) to install.

Am trying to so the same to see if i can get my w850 to run skype. If the k770 and k530 can I see no reason why not. Just need to get the right strings and for the life of me I can't seem to see why the ones on the sonyericsson developer site aren't doing the biz for me. If anyone knows the correct ones for a SE k530 or k770i, I'd appreciate if you could post them here.

Messenger is available in Menu > Download section of v20 N95

BTW, I wouldn't hold my breath for 3 to release anything later than v12.0.013 of the N95 if previous experiences with N73 and 6280 are anything to go by.

I have both the Live Messenger from Microsoft and Three's MSN Messenger installed on my E61.

The Live Messenger doesn't work over the three network, the ports are blocked, it works great over Wifi though.

The MSN Messenger does work over the three network it is configured specifically for three by a third party, you can check out all the config settings in the jad file (using the method I highlighted before).

The MSN Messenger from three occasionally doesn't work on their own network :-)

i am going to buy an n95 unlocked and connect it to three with my three simcard, my main concerns are skype(which you guys have thankfully cleared up for me thanks!) and the web browser, any problems with the latter??

Can I ask you if you can still use the Three messenger on your e61? I have tried to install different versions of the messenger by changing the user agent on the pc with the phone tethered, but they all come up with Unable to connect due to wrong user name or roaming restriction. Do you get this now as well? Which messenger version do you use, and for what phone is it originally intended? Thanks!
