Grundig digibox wont read perfectly working yellow house sky card

hi i have an old grundig sky box in one of the rooms at home which works perfect albeit slow to be fair but when i went to put in a sky yellow house card today it wouldn't read it and gave a failure message. I made sure the card was in the viewing card slot .i noticed the card felt somewhat looser in the slot. my theory is that the box is designed specifically for the older cards which may have been slightly thicker. it is a 1st generation grundig machine. i have posted a picture of it. i was wondering if anyone had similar experiences

You could try putting another card in on top of your sky card, something the same size like a Tesco clubcard. This will effectively make the card twice the size and make the chip have better contact with the connectors in the box. Hope it works.
