I tried this on another forum but got 0 replies so trying here because I do need help with this...

I recently lost my mother through a long time illness. For her funeral I read a poem I wrote about her. My father who very much loved my mother loved it so as it is our first Xmas without Her I was going to surprise my dad by getting my poem framed for him.

I'm going into so much detail so as you'll understand I don't just want to get the piece of paper its written on framed. I kinda want it "Prettied up" (if that makes sense), like re-written in nice writting on nice paper and then framed. Cost ain't an issue as this is really important to me.

So does anyone know where I might be able to get this done???

    Thanks

You are probably thinking about http://www.daintree.ie/. I'm not sure if they do calligraphy or framing, though.

I don't know about getting the writting done. But from experience can I make one suggestion...

Include the original written poem with the work your having done. You can hide it in the frame (behind the new printed version).

Although not in the same context as you, I received a 'thank you' card from a guy who I gave CPR to after a heart attack on the street. The card mean't so much to me I wanted it framed.

I had my card photocopied (at the suggestion of the lady at 'We Frame it') and put that to the front and the original hidden behind it.

I think Daintree would be a good idea - they make lots of handmade paper and specialise in high quality stuff like wedding invites. I imagine a relatively simple frame would be best.

If you know anyone doing Leaving Cert. Art they may well have a classmate who is doing calligraphy and could do it for you.
