Kerbdog are playing next week in town and I'm wondering if I'll bother to go. Went to see them (or possibly Wilt) last year and it was a fantastic time great gig, brilliant set! But the other half made a point about them having no new material so it'll probably be the same set. I see his point but the last set was good so I wouldn't mind goin again.

What do ye'all think? yay or nay?

they will play the same songs they've done at all the gigs in the last few years. everyone will jump around, sing along and remember how happy these songs made them when they were younger. it will be lots of fun. oh and Giveamanakick are supporting them in the Village. go for it.

Pros: kerbdog will rock again, giveamanakick supporting.
Cons: The Village is the worst venue in town.

    Im still going.

Twill be there tonight, as said before, no new material but the old stuff still is class! :)
Kerbdog know how to work a crowed, unlike Interpol I was at recently - worst gig ever, they should have just played a CD

Haven't ever managed to see Interpol playing, don't even own any of their albums for that matter either but I know people who are in love with them. Funny you should say that. Anyway, Kerbdog rocked yet again. Conor goes home with yet another set-lost as well.

    They sure did!

Anyway, this is a bit late, but heres the set-list.
I asked the guy on stage for it before the encore, and in fairness to him, he came over and gave it to me at the end.
It's a bit battered and stained after getting beer spilled on me

I've got some good photos my friend took on his phone too. I'll post em later.

I'm sorry but your obviously a moron :D unless you mean 'its the worst venue cause i cant get to the bar really quick and the floor is too slippy for my work shoes' if so then yes your right, otherwise your a moron

Hahaha. I think you'll find you wont have much support in defending The Village.

Yes one of my problems is the layout is a pile of ****. The entire venue was reversed in direction from how it was back when it was the Mean Fiddler. It made it more spacious but resulted in several really terrible bits of design.

First off the toilets are now beside the stage resulting in a constant stream of people back and forth through the crowd on stage right. Second the low roof and pillars make visibility from various parts of the venue really poor. Thirdly and related to that the type of speakers, the layout they have them in and the general shape of the venue result in terrible sound for rocky/metal/indie bands. If you arent right up the front you'll hear nothing!

Im sure theres worse venues if you are counting some ****ty little top room in a pub somewhere but in terms of commonly booked venues that highish profile acts play The Village constantly rates highest as the venue most likely to destroy the enjoyability of a gig. Thats why I award it worst venue of 2007 in Dublin (3rd year running).

Other venue awards Ive just decided to award:

    Most improved:
    TBMC

    Worst improved:
    Whelans

    Least missed:
    The Point

Toast my man (or woman?), you're spot on in everything you say. Maybe this should be a separate thread but it certainly is a design mess. On top of the toilets to the left as you look at the stage, you've the entrance to the right. The pillars are head wrecking and they don't let you take drinks outside the venue, despite they're in plastic glasses.

Whelan's bar I think is far better although I didn't notice any changes to the venue. I still hate the door to the left of the TBMC stage too.

I always find it interesting to see what people think of gigs I've been to afterwards. This one rocked.

how often do Kerbdog do these gigs?

and yes, The Village is a horrible venue.

Every so often. Before December 14th, the last time they had played was August of 2006. They just gig sporadically. There's usually something in Kilkenny and that's followed by Dublin.
