    Hatton and trainer split
    By David Anderson 15/12/2007 Mirror.co.uk

Ricky Hatton is considering splitting with trainer Billy Graham as the recriminations from his defeat to Floyd Mayweather begin.

Hatton flew back into Manchester yesterday following the first defeat of his pro career to Mayweather and will spend the next couple of weeks considering what went wrong.

Hatton, together with dad Ray, his manager, will review everything - including Graham's position.

The two-weight world champion has been with Graham since he turned pro at 18 and together they had swept all before them until last Saturday.

Hatton feels a genuine bond to Graham, dubbed The Preacher.

But tensions in the camp were clearly evident in the run-up to Hatton's 10th-round stoppage by Mayweather.

Graham did not fly back from Las Vegas with Hatton yesterday.

Ray stressed no decision had been made. He said: "Nothing's happened to my knowledge and I would be the first to know because Ricky leaves me to handle things like this."

Hatton, 29, has also to decide who his next opponent will be. He has already had offers from Oscar De La Hoya, IBF light-welterweight champ Paul Malignaggi and WBC light-welterweight title holder Junior Witter.

"I'll have a rest, then sit down and decide whether my next fight will be at welterweight or lightwelterweight," he said

I thought something wasn't right when Hatton arived thru the terminal yesterday on his own.....

And I would have thought it would be pretty obvious Ricky, that if you
fight again, it has to be below Welter......

in various articles before the fight i read how close they were- like father and son. so much for that if this report is to believed. there isn't much of a review needed to see what went wrong - he lost to a more skillful fighter at a weight he shouldn't be fighting at.
He'd be better off just admitting that.

doesnt surprise me in the least, if u look back at Grahams interview right after the fight he seemed to be shipping a lot of the blame in hattons direction and saying he should never have fought at the weight, oh it must be marvellous being wise after the event anyway i was disgusted with the way he tried distancing himself from any so called blame...

I thought the same myself, i think Graham knew himself along that Mayweather was to good for hatton. THe interview after the fight graham pretty much said he was fighting at the wrong weight, it might not be a bad move by Hatton to have a change of trainer if he intends to keep going.
