Travel options with other couple

Ourselves and another couple have decided to go on a city break in February, flying 14th and home 17th but can't decide where to go (excluding Barcelona and Prague).

    Aer Lingus:

    Dublin - Vienna - E192 pp
    Dublin - Paris - E184 pp
    Dublin - London - E64.

I didn't price any other cities yet but has anyone any recommendations that would ensure lots to do. Is it possible to go skiing for a day from Vienna? As we haven't skied before but would like to try it.

Also, any city really good for New Year's Eve celebrations? Thanks

    Thanks.

Vienna isn't really connected to the main skiing areas. More west of it like Salzburg yes. If you want skiing for a day - would you be bringing your own equipment? If renting it would be quite an expensive day (!).

Zurich or Geneva it's certainly possible. Zurich is aroudn 2hrs by train to ski areas and Ryanair are going into Basel soon.

You'd get a weekend ski break by itself defo, but for 1 day would be quite expensive and I'd say maybe not worth the hassle.

Thanks Pete. Think we will go to Vienna and forget about the skiing. Thanks for the advice.

That's the right choice. Vienna is one of the best cities in Europe to visit. Absolutely excellent IMHO.
