Which one is better. The jungle book or the lion king. My pick would be the jungle book. Especially considering its age.

    Blur. I mean Oasis.

I'd go for The Lion King to be honest.

Havent seen Jungle Book in years, but I remember liking Lion King way more regardless

Lion king all the way. Everything you could want in a movie, disney or otherwise, has its boxes ticked here!

Music is fantastic, acting is great, animation is superb and the story is both uplifting and heart wrenching. A good old coming-of-age yarn.

...having said that, the jungle book also scores in all these departments too, but the lion king wins it by personal preference for me.

saw the jungle book in the cinema when I was little so I am biased but I reckon it's better.
Why is the proper version of the jungle book seemingly unavailable on dvd?

    They're both bullsh*t.

Jungle Book. Music is boulevards ahead of the ghey Elton John bull**** of The Lion King.

I voted for the Lion King. The start is incredible. Hans Zimmer is so damn good. The rest isn't amazing.

The Jungle Book isn't great, in my opinion. The only great moment is the entrance of Scar, when he hits the really low note with "That's what friends are for."

My my that's a very sweeping statement. Ever seen the Iron Giant, My Neighbour Totoro, Akira, any Pixar film, Spirited Away, Pom Poko, Paprika, Millenium Actress, Waking Life?

As for the arguement at hand: haven't seen either of them properly in many years, but I do think the Lion King is ultimately more memorable (based solely on my own memories of the two)

    Akira, any Pixar film,

Cars (an unsightly blemish) must never be mentioned in the same breath as Akira

Gotta say Jungle Book myself. The Lion King is too over bloated and aware of itself. Poor man's (ironically considering its massive budget) LBT in my opinion.

Have seen all the films you mentioned besides Paprika.
Waking Life is the only decent one among them.

Lion King hands down imo (looks like the poll agrees with me )

The jungle book steered clear of alot of adult themes that the Lion King addresses. Plus the storyline of the lion king was a lot better, it dealt with envy, revenge, anger, sadness, bitterness, hate and guilt. Not exactly childish themes.

I remember being very young when I seen it first and the part with the wildebeest stampede and Simbas father seared itself into my memory. So much so that I can still replay out that whole scene in my mind. You replace that scene and dialogue with humans and reality and you have one of the most stirring moments in cinema. Just because its a cartoon and animals with human traits shouldn't make it any less stirring.

    Has to be Jungle Book.

Jungle Book all the way. Saw the old one when I was very young and the cartoon later and loved both.

Cant believe more people have picked the lion king
I thought the whole laugh and joke context of the Jungle book would win it
Obviously people have no taste :D
Lion King was too serious and preached too much about "Issues"

    2 words My Arse :)

my father had us watching jungle book from a young age so I'm biased and have to pick that. Haven't seen either in years and years though

I'd say a lot of people simply don't remember the Jungle Book as well as the Lion King. Luckily I experienced both as a kid.

The lion king is a much better movie and it has more rewatchabality than JB

    Yep... My sentiments as well.

I guess most of the people voting are younglings who grew up with the Lion King.

I was at the right age when the Lion King came out and it was practically on a continous loop in our house for a long time. But I'd much rather sit down and watch the Jungle Book now. Been a long time since i've watched either though tbh.

Haven't seen either in a long time but the music in the jungle book can't be beat.

The Jungle Book is 10 times better than The Lion King, and no Elton in sight.

May I ask why these two disney films in particular are being compared to each other?

My vote would definately go to The Lion King. Its just a superior film in practically every respect.
Of course I saw the Jungle Book when I was little and remember it fondly, but having seen it again when I was older, it just didnt hold up all that well. Though it must be said that a couple of the songs are timeless classics at this stage! (*sings* "I wanna be like youuuuuu, hoop be doo, I wanna be like youuuuuuu, hop be doo wee doo waa" :p)

HA! :D But then again, there are great many Disney animated movies that feature mostly animals
