Ireland disappoints again

Ireland is again showing it's total lack of responsability by putting economic welfare over the more pressing environmental threats that we're now facing. Ireland, together with Spain, Portugal and Greece, has benefited the most from joining the EU and has received a tremendous amount of money from other member states' tax payers without giving anything back. Ireland is still coming to terms with an influx in immigrations and most of its population is still negative to seeing immigrants entering the country. But the only reason why we're now enjoying a much better standard of living is thanks to money from other countries. How does this add up? And now we're failing again by being one of the top 5 polluters (in terms of green house gas emissions) only because we have become greedy and lost all religious and ethic beliefs.

don't beat yourself up, if you measure our emissions per sq km we probably have one of the lowest emissions in Europe

By Ireland disappointing, I presume you mean Fianna Fail ?
1)housing crisis for close to 10 years, artificially elevating prices while govt. revenue was price indexed
2)Spending most of the "free EU money" on road networks that were already undercapacity by their completion date
3)Complete failure to address the Public transport system with adequate investment in rail development and rolling stock
4)Replacing the health Board system with a vast array of executive positions creating the situation whereby, the concept of accountability becomes an expensive and elusive notion.
5)Allowing our Penal system to degrade to the extent that our prisons are overcrowded and our suburbs are slowly spiralling out of control
6)Our hospital system has been bodged into the public-private partnership scheme that has already proved ineffective in the US at providing affordable health care for all (a stated goal)

But I suppose the electorate are responsible for not booting them out !!!
