I finally splashed out for some middleton :D
It was only €105 in tesco? I could be wrong, but it was pretty cheap anyway compared to other places.

Have to say its lovely stuff. I had one shot of it which i savoured. I want to make it last so will go through my other whiskey. I even got a millars gold recently for mixers.. its muck.

Anyway, it came with an invitation to sign a register in dublin or cork.
Question is, has anyone done this? Is it just walk in sign and feck off? Or do i get a free tour?

There's 10% off Irish whiskey in Tesco at the moment - hence the good price...

No sure exactly how much it was, it was LESS than €115 anyway.
Its funny, as i was checking out the people behind me were picking up the box with ooohs and ahhs... they were Polish or some sort of Easter Europeans :D

Anyway again, anyone know what the story is with the invitation?

    Basically just a free tour.

From what I hear, the Dublin tour is "hello. they used to make whiskey here. they dont anymore. anyone want a tiny sample?" and not worth it. You also get to sign a register if you're into that sort of thing.

The midleton tour is supposed to be better, due to it being an actual distillery.

I don't think you visit the working distillery. That's like an industrial plant. I think you visit the old Midleton distillery, which is only a few yards from the new one.

Thats the tour in a nut shell.

Tesco must be selling it at cost price, were you to pick it up in a cash and carry thats what it would cost.

    It's not just 'Hello'
You get the full story of the making of Irish whiskey a tour of the old distillery and see what type of equipment was used when it was in operation.
There's also a whiskey tasting and if you put ypuir hand up at the righ time you get to do a comparative tasting of Irish, Scotch and Bourbon and you get a certificate at the end. Anyone I know who has done it have enjoyed it.
