Any verdicts on the new blade runner 5 disk box set ? I got mine the other day and plan on watching them over the weekend- so far have only seen the disk 2 documentary (which was top notch).

I saw threads on this ages ago when people were comparing r1 and r2 & ordering off the web and so on but didnt see any actual reviews of the new version movies.

Also does anyone know if there will be a cinema run of the 2007 version ?

Watched the final version Monday night and have to say it looks awesome.
I would be very surprised if it got any kind of theatrical release though,./

I got it and watched first 5 mins on my plasma and was blown away by the picture quality and sound (and I have the standard DVD edition), then the wife told me she already bought it for me in HMV, so I had to bring it back, and the one she bought is sitting under the tree waiting for to be watched next week! Ah well I waited years for this, another 7 days won't matter.

I'll definitely be picking this one up on blu-ray after Crimbo is out of the way.
It's listed as region free on movietyme

That documentary was ace alright. Thought it was just going to be a re-edit of the C4 one from a couple of years ago (That was a great doc too) but it isn't, for those who haven't watched it yet. Can't believe they got Ford on it. I mean, did you see the trailer for the DVD set? At the end you see Olmos saying "Did you get Harrison? Really?"

Reminded me of the Abyss doc too: Warts and all job as opposed to a promo fluff piece.

Just watched the first few mins of the final cut to check quality. Bloody hell did it look good.

Also, that moving-cell-thing-like-those-football-cards-ya-used-to-get-if-yer-ancient-like-me is class. Good package allround and decent price. Even in the shops.

I was going to get this but decided on the HD-DVD version instead. Kind of regret it, for the extras, but I made my choice...

I thought the 2 financiers (Yorkin and Perenchio) came off very very badly after that documentary and the movie commentaries - lots and lots of revelations buried in there about how bad they were to deal with and how they almost ruined the film.

The movie versions were great - the workprint was pretty amazing for novelty value but the 2007 directors version is fantastic. The way they re-did the zora death scene without overdoing it was impressive. They fixed it enough so as it would take you out of the movie. Also sparkling up all the effects - stunning it kind of looked a bit like a newly made movie. They have to show this in the cinema !

My HD-DVD copy finally arrived on New Years Eve and it was worth the wait, loved the Final Cut, loved the cleaned up print, pity some of the goofs are still in there (Zhora straps on her high heels but when she's beening chased and shot, its clear to see that she is wearing flat shoes)
The Documentary on disc 2 is excellent insight into the problems in making the movie, some cool outtakes in there as well including a picture of Deckard with those funny eyes that all of the Replicants had, also interesting that it suffered the same as The Thing due to being released when ET was released, people didn't want dark Sci Fi movies and only wanted happy feelgood movies like ET.

Anyway will watch the other editions of the movies over the coming months, well worth the investment.
