    Maurice and gary work in ****** maurice is 7 years older than gary, when maurice is twice his curren age, gary will be 51 . what age are Maurice and Gary now?

    i crap at maths can figure this out :(

    Maurice is 32.5 yrs old Gary is 25.5

    Maurices age is a

    Garys age is b

    At the moment

    Maurice is 7 yrs older

    so

    a - 7 = b

    when maurice is twice his current age gary will be 51

    so

    2 x (a-7) = 51

    2a - 14 = 51

    2a = 65

    a = 32.5

    b = a - 7

    b = 25.5

    Gary's age now = x
    Maurice's age now = x + 7

    When Maurice is twice his current age:

    Gary's age = x + (x + 7)= 2x + 7

    therefore: 2x + 7 = 51
    2x = 44
    x = 22

    Gary is now 22, Maurice is now 29
