Ok I was going to try get my parents a trip to barcelona as a x-mas present but im finding it very difficult and now that im running out of time im on here looking for some much needed advice off fellow boardsies.

I was thinking start of feb departing sunday returning wednesday as i thought this may be cheaper for flights etc (oh by the way im a student).
maybe a 3 star hotel central enough in barcelona ?

i was looking at flights etc on ryanair
and havent got a clue were to get hotels

this is my first time booking online and it is turning into a daunting task

so i was wondering can anyone out there help me

a good site/sites for hotels and flights to barcelona for reasonable prices

    or any other general advice

    cheers

OP, aerlingus have a sale on at the moment. For hotels look up tripadvisor.com as they show good, reputable hotels with independent customer ratings/reviews and price comparisons between different websites. However if you are a student maybe that is beyond what you can afford. YOu could just buy them the flights and then help them find a good hotel deal on the internet over christmas.

i would fly to barcelona via aer lingus as ryanair fly to reus and gerona which are located 1.5 hours from barcelona

this is a good website for budget hotels and hostels http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php?ChosenCity=Barcelona&ChosenCountry=Spain

this is also a good website for hotel http://www.travelaxe.com/

Get them a gift voucher for a travel agent - if you book something with Aer Lingus / Ryanair and they cant travel on the set days you will face big change fees. Its usually a bad idea to decide a holiday for people - gift vouchers are the way to go.

I would say pick a smaller city if they're only going for 3 days, as Barca is huge and well spread out, you'd nearly need 5-7 days for it. Especially if they are old or not really fit, we killed ourselves walking around Barcelona.

Just my tuppence worth though :D

    ps: travel gift vouchers ftw

a very good irish owned website that does vouchers is www.roomexhotels.com and your parents could renew their voucher for any of 20,000 hotels worldwide. i have used them before and they are excellent :)

Try www.centralr.com. I have used it twice and it has been brilliant!! I would highly recommend!!

Here is a nice 3* hotel in Barcelona, my friends just booked it for January. It has a good deal for the moment. http://hotels.book4now.com/hotel/es/bcn-montjuic.html

I'm sure you can search and fine much more 3* hotels as well, just use google.
