Bit of a problem with Expedia!

    Hey folks,

Having picked my hotel on Expedia (The Hotel Alexander in NY) and proceeded to the credit card page, I've encountered a slight problem.

When I select "Non US or Canada billing address" it asks me to select my country from a drop down list. Fairly standard looking list, like you'd see on hundreds of other sites. Thing is, Ireland isn't there! Nor is the Republic of Ireland or Eire. I'm at a loss to figure out what the hells going on!

Anyone else experienced this? Please don't tell me I've to select UK...

You can't book expedia with an Irish address. It's nothing to do with having to select UK.

Apparently there's some issue with the clearing houses and Expedia.

Try the sticky at the top of this forum for links to other sites for booking. I like www.venere.com

Nothing to do with credit card approvals/clearing but rather Expedia will
not pay the bond all Irish tour/travel operators must pay here to cover
any expenses in repatriating travelers should they go belly-up.

Do a search on the forum here, plenty of info on why Expedia will not/can
    not accept Irish bookings.

Expedia are waaay too overpriced. There are tons of cheaper sites to book on. you've had a lucky escape.

try tripadvisor. they give independent ratings on hotels and have links to lots of different booking websites.

Has anyone noticed that there's a www.expedia.ie now?!?!?

Does this mean it's possible to book through them now with an Irish address? It's be a bit pointless if you couldn't!

It seems you cant buy flights on it yet. They must not have got a travel agents licence from the itaa yet but hopefully they will soon. More compition the better.
