Go black? or moronic?

I've been playing with the idea of buying a mac for a long long time and have never pulled the trigger, I'm getting close to it tho.

I really prefer the black macbook to the white one but the difference in price 500e for .2 of a ghz and some extra disk space is just a crime.

what are peoples thought's on the price difference?

You are paying for the status symbol assosiated with owning a BlackBook. The only difference between them is the bigger hard drive but even that is more expensive to what you'd pay if you bought your Hard Drive on komplett and installed it yourself.

Agreed. You're paying mostly for the colour. I wouldn't bother, not for a macbook anyway. If you care about the looks that much get a Macbook Pro.

don't pay 1500 for a black one pay 1900 for a pro?

I think he means that if you are worried bout appearances, then just get the Pro.

Unless you have money to burn, just get the best white Macbook and get a cover tbh.

Exactly. If you want value for money get a white macbook. If you want sexiness get a MBP. The macbook is nice but it isn't worth spending the extra 200 on. The black version is just Apple's lazy replacement for the 12" Powerbook.

The Pro has a better graphics card, faster Firewire (400/800), better screen, backlit keyboard, more RAM and memory as standard, a few other functional improvements and the cool metal look, not to mention being tougher than the Macbook. It's a desktop in notebook form, basically.

Why don't you look on the Apple Refurb store? The Macbook black is only €1339 there (new model with 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD)

Black ones get a lot of fingerprints!...So you'll spend a lot of time cleaning it down. The white is much nicer than the black and spend the extra buying that hdd and some ram from crucial.com maybe.

Another thing to note is all the accessories are white. So much for the image. Hard to justify the black one. I like the look of the black, but I think its a step to far to charge so much for it.
