Not much of a thread as far as discussion goes but for those that are fans of his, I thought they might like to know. From www.wrestlingobserver.com :

Bobby Heenan is undergoing major surgery tomorrow. They will be taking bone from both his shin and thigh and using it to reconstruct a new jaw, because his jawbone was destroyed by radiation therapy in treating his throat cancer. The surgery is major enough that after completion, they will have to put him in a coma for several days.

Yeah heard about this. I hope he comes through it OK. I was actually watching a match last night of Shawn Michaels against Roddy Piper and during the match Piper kisses Sherri and Heenan goes, "Before I'd kiss Piper I'd rather kiss a hospital mop!" I cracked up as his delivery is just so brilliant.

Now, we def know its an imposter kentonbomb. The origanal would have cited 50 reasons why Kennedy (....Kennedy) is better than Heenan.

One of the most depressing things I ever saw in wrestling was on Smackdown about 5 years ago. They were hyping up a Hogan-McMahon match and they had different legends/celebrities talking about it. Bobby Heenan looked and sounded close to death and it was great to see him survive. Hopefully he can do it again.

    Small update from PWInsider:
-- WWE Hall of Famer Bobby "The Brain" Heenan has undergone a second reconstructive surgery on his jaw after the first procedure was not successful. Doctors are hoping the new bone will heal properly this time. Heenan is still in a medically induced coma and is expected to be brought out slowly this week. He will remain hospitalized for the next several weeks.

-- PWInsider.com has posted a health update for WWE Hall of Famer Bobby Heenan. Heenan recently underwent another reconstructive surgery where additional tissue and skin were transferred to his neck to help with the healing process following his surgery replacing his jawbone. The replaced jawbone bone is doing well and is set in place.

Heenan, who is said to be getting better and has joked about wanting to get out of the hospital already, will start physical rehabilitation to help regain strength and begin walking again shortly. Unfortunately, healing has been extremely slow due to the radiation treatments Heenan underwent in the past when he was suffering from cancer. He has been bedridden for quite some time.

Good to hear he is out of the coma and he is still cracking jokes :). Hopefully his recovery will be a successful one!

Figured I dig up this thread rather than starting a new one.
-- WWE Hall of Famer Bobby "The Brain" Heenan is not doing too well health wise these days as his health is said to be deteriorating‏, according to a report on WrestlingEpicenter, a site that has interviewed a number of wrestling stars over the past few years.

The WWE Hall of Famer's health is so bad that one source told the website that he does not believe Heenan will make it another month. The source said Heenan is now having trouble remembering the people around him. Heenan has been in a Tampa, Florida area hospital since December. He was first put in due to reconstructive surgery on his jaw, after the first surgery was unsuccessful. Heenan was placed in a medically induced coma and was slowly brought out.

In late January, Bobby Heenan was brought out, but was unable to speak. He was also in line for some more surgeries to reconstruct his facial features.

I'm not sure how reliable that wrestling epicenter website is tbh but have seen it reported on a few wrestling sites.

If this is true I hope everything works out for Heenan, he seems to have been through so much the last few years :(

Id be very surpurised if that is true. From two NAMED people who are good friends of his, one of which within the past week. Ive heard that he is doing ok conisdering and is resting at home watching baseball on his couch. But he has to relearn to talk.

I hope the story is making his condition sound more serious than it actually is. He's had a horrendous time though and spending that length of time in hospital with what he's had to deal with physically must be incredibly draining on his mind.

I'm taking this with a pinch of salt to be honest, until i hear it from somewhat of a credible source. Last i heard, he was doing a lot better but needed a lot of speech therapy.

    VR!

He'll live another month :) And more

Amen, cancer may have impaired his speech, but it didn't impair his mind. :D

Wade Keller of www.pwtorch.com posted this on his forum:
What I've heard is that Heenan is in bad health, he was in a self-induced coma for a while, is out of it now, but cannot speak. He is not necessarily days away from death or anything, but his struggle continues. His wife is by his side, but he's not able to communicate on the phone with anyone trying to touch base with him.

Nothing really new there but it's horrible to think that we're heading into September (about 9 months since the operation I think) and it's still very rough for him.

That is what I heard about a month ago so it looks like his health hasnt changed for the worst.

Dave Meltzer said he was looking into it too last night.

    From JR's blog:
"I also heard that Bobby Heenan was doing better and is going thru speech therapy and watching plenty of baseball on TV. I love Bobby like a brother and he is one of my all time favorite people. I have never seen any one in the biz w/ so much all around talent as Bobby which includes wrestling, managing, and broadcasting. "The Brain" is one of a kind."

    WrestlingEpicenter is a Hamn'egger site.

Some additional details from today's Wrestling Observer:
Heenan has gone through an absolute hell since December. It was so bad that I don’t know that he could have possibly survived the ordeal except for wanting to live because his daughter gave birth to his first grandchild. That became his motivation not to quit. He hasn’t been able to talk in about nine months, but has been able to use a chalkboard and write things down.

    :(

Sorry for the bump but I thought people here would be interested to know this from the Observer:
Bobby Heenan has made a solid improvement. He’s in the beginning stages of talking, although he can only say a few words at a time and his jaw gets tired if the conversation goes more than a few minutes. But he’s fully coherent, his first grandchild was recently born (that was the motivation that kept him alive and fighting through this ordeal) and he’s been following baseball and wrestling. He was particularly interested in what happened regarding Mick Foley winding up in TNA. He followed the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Devil Rays all season, so baseball was a positive in getting through everything.

    :)
