    Hi all. Can anyone recommend some worthwhile must do things in NZ. Have read a lot of the AA guides etc. but I'd be happier to hear from someone who actually did some of the tours etc to get some feedback. Staying in Auckland mostly but travelling to Russell (near Paihia), Kaitaia, Dargaville, Hamilton, Rotorua and then 4 days in Kaikoura on the south island. All suggestions welcome!:D

    Onto this I'd add the followinglist I gave my boss before he headed off last week:
    Scary Santa is on queens street http://www.nss.co.nz/nss_projects.html
    Lake Taupo which you are going to anyway Great spot for the skydiving + much cheaper than Queenstown
    Rotorua - The Maori experience http://www.whakarewarewa.com/

    South island
    Christchurch - All the buildings, Gospel Choir in main cathedral
    Must Do[/b[Akaroa- About 17 miles out towards the coast from Christchurch + the swimming with the Hectors Dolphin http://www.blackcat.co.nz/dolphins.asp
    Dunedin - East coast of Sth Island;
    Cadburys factory-should be good for the girls http://www.cadbury.co.nz/cadburyworld/visit.html
    Speights factory - should be good for you http://www.speights.co.nz/Home.aspx
    Otago Peninsula - Albatross colony http://www.albatross.org.nz/index.html
    Queenstown - you wont need much help there;
    Lake Wanaka 20-30 miles north of Queenstown; Not much there much smaller and less populated than Queenstown; But do go there for http://www.puzzlingworld.co.nz/ - Loads of mind bending tricks etc http://www.photobox.ie/album/album_photo.html?c_photo=73208296

    I walk past that Santa twice a day going to and from work. Scary bastard. He has one deformed eye (it winked last year) and moving finger. Freaky.

    Hamilton is boring, stay away from it.
    Paihia is nice, even better with nice weather
    Rotorua is smelly but good fun. Loads to do around there.
    Lake Taupo, not too far from Rotorua, once again, loads to do.

    Try to get to Napier if you hit Taupo. About 1.5hrs I think and one of my favourite drives.

    I live in Auckland. If you're after night life early in the week then you won't easily find it in the city. You need to know where you're going. The city night life kicks off from Thursdays to Saturday. Sunday is fairly dead.

    Check out Snow Planet, it is a 15min drive out of the city. Jump off the Sky Tower. Take a ferry to the island. Loads of great places to eat in Auckland too.

    Cheers Rabies! Been to Paihia already. Was good fun. In Rotorua now and looking forward to some activities over the coming days.
