Metallic MacBooks Spotted on Apple Campus

Appleinsider claims that "dark grey" or "gunmetal" colored slim notebooks have been spotted at Apple campus.

Though noticeably thinner but otherwise similar in size to the company's 13-inch MacBooks, the notebook appeared to have a metallic sheen to it, which set it apart from the current black MacBook.

The report is reminiscent of a 9to5mac report that indicated that new MacBook enclosures made of black and silver aluminum had previously been spotted by their sources.

Rumors of a sub-notebook laptop have been building as we approach Macworld San Francisco. Our rumor roundup summarizes the predictions to date.

Gizmodo have a great mock-up pick here.

Something looking like that would be sweet!!

13.3" isn't really a subnotebook, no matter how thin it is imo.

Yuck ! It looks like every other Wintel notebook on the shelves now - all it's missing is the huge stickers plastered all over it.

Why not just make all the notebook shells the same and grade the components inside to reduce the price. For example a 13" MBP with an Intel IGP rather than the ATI or nVidia offerings could be sold as a MacBook.

I'm not too sure about this either. I'd be perfectly happy with a 13" Macbook Pro. The 15" MBP is just too big and expensive for me. And I don't care for the Macbook's keyboard or glossy screen. Why Apple never replaced the 12" Powerbook is beyond me. It was the perfect prosumer machine.

Mock-ups look ok, but kitschy finishes are unnescessary and kind of detracts from the classy Mac look.

The two tone colouring in the mock up is horrible! Looks like something á la Dell.

10.1" sub-Macbook FTW. I'd buy one! :) (fingers crossed, in vain)

Me too, I'd be willing to pay 1.5-2K if it truly was a subnotebook.

I can only agree with the above. I don't like the look of the new mockup. I lower priced pro would be great. Or a Macbook with better gfx's. But it should look like a Mac not a PC.
