Not sure if this is the right place! Sorry if it isn't!!

I got a new laptop recently and the first couple of times i used it there were the inevitable windows updates to be done.

I noticed that the size of the updates was kinda big! Over 300MB!

I was just wondering if someone could tell me if this 300MB is taking up space on my hard drive or what!?

I don't wana be wasting that much valuablehard drive space on windows updates

    Thanks for the replies!!

They are stored in a hidden directory I think and as far as I know you can delete them but be aware that you probably won't be able to uninstall the update if needed.

Yep it takes up hard drive space but has to be done to keep your computer protected from security risks and problems unfortunately!!..

You say its a new laptop well you probably have an 80GB hard drive at least...so 300MB which is pretty huge for an update (Probably a once off)
would use a mere 2-3% of that which isn't really much at all!!.

Has to be done or you wont be able to post to boards.ie!!
