I figured a few people on here might record their music so I figured I'd give it a shot.

My brother plays piano to a fairly decent standard and wants to start recording himself playing. What I'm after is some fairly easy to use PC recording software to record him playing through a mic, to be burned to cd.

Ideally I'd like to be able to pick it up in Dublin as I doubt I'd get it online to be delivered before christmas (my dad is getting it for him for christmas) unless its a download.

The other alternative is to use my HiMd to do the recording as it's uploadable, but it's mine so I dotn really want him too.

    Cheers for any help

    Audacity

    Or

Reaper for more complex mixing and mastering and stuff like that.

    Both free downloads.

If its just straight forward recording then rendering to mp3 or burning to CD then audacity is ideal.

Nero 7 Smart Start Suite is pretty good, you can record any input, then clean it up in the wave editor, then burn it to CD/DVD. Everything you need all in one package.

What didn't you like about Audacity? I use it quite a bit and find it to be a great piece of software. Plus you can't argue with the price!

You'll most likely need more than a sequencer. Come to Recording and Pro Audio, lots of helpful guys over there.
