Software recommendation

I assume this is the right place for this.

My brother plays piano to a fairly decent standard and wants to start recording himself playing. What I'm after is some fairly easy to use recording software to record him playign through a mic, to be burned to cd.

Ideally I'd like to be able to pick it up in Dublin as I doubt I'd get it online to be delivered before christmas (my dad is getting it for him for christmas) unless its a download.

The other alternative is to use my HiMd to do the recording as it's uploadable, but it's mine so I dotn really want him too. :)

    Cheers for any help

There's free software called audacity that'll do the recording.

You can get it here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

You might want to look into getting good quality microphones and an audio interface for the computer if you want to be able to record at a good quality, I wouldn't know enough about them to be able to recommend any, but someone else might.

He'll be using a Sony mic (ecm-ms907). I've used it to record a gig or too onto minidic and it's great. Is there a dedicate dcard availbe that would do a good job of inputting the sound?

    There's hundreds.

You're better off not using the inbuild sound on the computer, as these don't usually sound great.

    Thomann sell them: http://www.thomann.de/ie/audio_interfaces.html
