Can anyone recommend a good TV comedy boxset to get for Christmas. I do not want Scrubs, Friends or Only Fools And Horses as they are TV alot. I was thinking of Seinfield or Fraiser or Entourage but I never really watched these on TV.

Seinfeld and Frasier are good choices. Also:

The Office (Both the UK and US versions are good)
    Blackadder
    Black Books
    Peep Show
    My Name is Earl
    Curb your Enthusiasm

    Black Books is worth getting.

The IT crowd is good too.

    (I love graham Linehen)

I'd recommend the Two Ronnies or Dave Allen, old stuff still beats most modern stuff. If that's not technically what you're after there's always Two and a Half Men.

How about the best tv show ever made? The Wire.

[EDIT] Ah he wants a comedy...well in that case Arrested Development and Curb Your enthusiasm are brilliant and hilarious.

Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em was always a favourite of mine. :)

Since when is sex and the city a comedy?

+1 for Father Ted anyway, I'd be delighted to receive a box set of that
Arrested Development is another good one, and there were only 2 seasons made, so buying the entire collection shouldn't be too costly

Personally I like the ones which are the complete set.. I don't like getting someone the first 5 series of something then having to explain 'I'm not a cheapskate; they're not all released yet!
Blackadder have my vote as it's very rarely on TV. Plus other classics like Porridge or even Fawlty Towers.

Curb Your Enthusiasm. It is fantastic. Would have thought everyone had Father Ted by now.

I always thought of Sex and the City as a comedy? Perhaps a bad one but an attempt at comedy nonetheless!

If it's not a comedy, what is it?

If you want nostalgic greatness then I suggest Only Fools and Horses. Or for more modern comedy, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere are brilliant too.

i'm gonna give a plus one for Phoenix Nights; series one and two are absolutely brilliant. Takes a teeny bit of getting 'into' but it's belly laugh inducing, life affirming fun!
