I saw whilst browsing through some posts there is some Airsoft societies in some of the colleges round Ireland, there is none in UCC at the moment and I thought I would put the idea out there. If there is anyone who attends the college and would be interested in getting one up and running we could approach the college....

there is one in it carlow at the moment and i believe there was someone in dit that wanted to start one, other than that i dont know of any yet

middle of the year might not be the best time to be starting a society in college to be honest, but if it's done right it can be done

Wel we would only put forward a proposition to them at this stage of the year to get the ball rolling, it would not come into existence entirely until the start of the next college yr. It would be great to get 2 or 3 more set up as well, NUIG, DCU etc could get an intervarsity championship going or something. I know its probably wishful thinking at the moment though:(!! Once a society is approved we would be entitled to funding from the college which would be nice, does anyone know whether there are any more airsoft clubs in colleges in england or anything?

It's going really good as far as I can tell, the college provides the bus so we pay the site fee. We just had a fundraiser and got €160, so that will be used to reduce the site fee for students. we had a skirmish in oct, nov, none this month, and hope to have them in jan and feb. I'm leaving college on work xp then so maybe someone will take over for me. 60 people signed up on socities day but we only get around 10 going per trip. Most of them got their own aegs now!

Congratulations man glad to see its going well for you. It will be interesting to see what happens with membership at the beginning of next year you should hopefully get a large influx of players.

Am I the only one who got confused and thought this line referred to an OS :D

That's pretty good, 10 going on a trip out of 60 is decent enough, you always get a tonne more members on sign up day than those that will actually turn up. Not sure if your college has an sms service available for societies, but that is the best way of keeping contact with members and announcing trips, if they dont, you could still use your own o2/meteor/vodafone online sms account for it

Edit: NOIP: nope, your not the only one :)
