Bus routes from Airport

What routes do the Aircoach and 747/748 take to and from the airport these days?

Last time I got a 747 and it came through the port tunnel followed by Sheriff street. I have a friend arriving tomorrow and want to avoid Sheriff street as his first introduction to the city if possible!

I took a 748 ages back and it went down the quays, does it still take this route?

What about the aircoach, does it use the port tunnel these days, or still via Drumcondra? (That route is almost as bad an intro to the city as Sheriff street)

Aircoach operate via Drumcondra in both directions.

Airlink 747/748 operate via the Port Tunnel inbound, and the 747 operates either via East Wall Road or Sheriff Street to Sean MacDermott Street and O'Connell Street. The 748 would operate via East Wall Road or Sheriff Street and onto Amiens Street. If traffic is light they both can avoid the tunnel and go via Drumcondra.

It is down to the individual driver which route is taken.

Outbound the 747 and 748 operate via O'Connell Street, Parnell Square and Drumcondra.

Seville Place/Sheriff St/Sean McDermott St don't look too bad if you're just passing through on a bus.

Alternatively travel in the hours of darkness to avoid any embarassment :)

If you have time on your hands take the 16A, a nice little trip through Whitehall! You will not avoid Drumcondra or Sheriff St as these are the main routes to/from Airport. Just get a taxi and tell the taxi man what way to go!

Hmmm, pity the 748 doesn't go through the tunnel then down the quays like it did for me once, a much more impressive entrance to the city. I think I will take the taxi route as long as I can avoid the 12 euro toll!

Huh  I've never been on an Inbound 747 that uses the Port Tunnel. How often does it happen?

    Completely, I admit it ;-)

But come on, all those routes in from the airport are total disgraces, and are the introduction 99% of visitors get to the country. First impressions count for a lot!

Bring on the metro, then we can pretend the North side doesn't exist :D

I'm sure if it's good enough for the Taoiseach, it's good enough for your friend.

Ah Drumcondra's grand, it goes rapidly downhill further towards the city on Dorset street though.

I love the 747 :) Can't sing its praises enough!

If you take a taxi through the port tunnel, you can be sure he'll expect you to pay the toll as well as the fare.

Of course the customer would have to pay it. If the customer requested to go via the DPT, you'd hardly expect the taxi driver to pay the toll!
