    Hi guys,

I have never been to Amercia and would love to go.

I'm looking for adivce on when and where to go. I dont mind where i go whether it be LA, New York, Vegas. Would just really like to visit the US as i have never been as far as Spain lol.

Looking for advise on the best/cheapest places to go, best time of year, best airline.

Hope someone can help. Once again i dont mind where i go, even Miami. Just somewhere where i can "Sight See" as it were and not lie by the pool. Get up. Lie on the beach. I'm 20 so have grown out of the family holiday thing. Looking to go away with my girlfriend and think America would be nice. Currently doing a placement gap year from university so have the chance to save some money.

    Hope you guys can help.

    Thanks

    tom

In a similar position ourselves, so we're hitting LA & Vegas in the new year :D

At one point very recently I was able to find a return flight Dublin to New York for €350 all inclusive with Delta. Obviously that's being very flexible on the dates but I was this close to booking it. Best to just check all the airline sites for Feb/March low season. Punch in "July" and you'll already be looking at higher fares.

New York is always a favourite for first timers, but hotel prices on manhattan island for any decent sized room is through the roof.

Having been all over the states I would recommend flying Dublin to San Francisco (aer lingus now fly direct from dublin) and then later to las vegas

San francisco has got loads of sights in itself and is probably the most beautiful city in the States. about 200 miles east is the amazing Yosemite national park, to the north is the wine growing napa valley and further north is redwood forests and parks of northern california

flights from san francisco to Las vegas shouldn't cost much more than $50-$60 and take about 1 hour, las vegas is the most amazing city on earth, there really is nothing like it, 6,000 room hotels, amazing shops, shows, great nightlife and of course you can drink anywhere 24/7. Las vegas is also the outdoor enthusiasts dream with nearby redrock canyon, lake mead, valley of fire and Mount Charleston all on its doorstep.

places like grand canyon, death valley, zion, bryce are only a few hours away

i would recommend going in early May, July is usually the hottest time of the year in las vegas and i mean HOT (it hit 48C this year), avoid las vegas on Friday and Saturday nights because hotel rates go up those nights.
