Does anyone know of a service that would transport a bike from Dublin to Cork?

If you're buying a bike, most bike shops will transport the bike for you for free or a small charge.

There's also the bike recovery guy who will pick up your bike and deliver it (and you) to a garage, but Dublin to Cork is a long way and it might cost quite a bit.

You could ride it down, or hire a van and load it into the back.

maybe ring these guys for a quote, I don't know anything about them, just came across the link recently when I was thinking I might need use of a similar service. At the very least you'll get ballpark quotation for this type of service.

Picked up a bike two weeks ago from Cork, brought it back to Dublin in a hired transit van. €190 van hire, but that was day and a half hire, you could do it for less if you just turned straight around and came back.

Put two pallets into the back, tie the bike down to them making sure to compress the suspension to stop it jumping about, no problems. You'd need at least one person to help load and unload, preferably 2 helpers especially if its anything over 500cc. Much more than that and you need a ramp...

Alternatively if you're buying, maybe the seller could ride it up, maybe you cover trainfare for him... Or I'm sure you could find a volunteer from here or biker.ie to collect it for you depending what kind of bike it is :D

I'll drive it to cork depending on what it is - for the price of a train fare.
