So Ive been busying myself with my MBP over the last couple of weeks , sorting out my pro tools update , my plug ins etc.Doing a bit of work on mixes finish em , pop a balnk disc in and what happens?

It asks me if I want to launch finder , disc utility or I tunes?

I cannot believe there is no basic data disc burning app included? Am I missing something obvious ? Is I tunes it for burning discs?

$99 dollars for toast ? WTF ? Off to search for some shareware...

To burn data onto a CD-ROM, Ctrl-Click on the desktop and choose "New Burn Folder". Name it, and open it. Drag whatever files or whole folders into the burn folder window (you will be only creating shortcuts to the files, not actually moving them).
When ready to burn the disc, click on the Burn button in the top-right of the Burn Folder window. You will be asked to insert a blank disc and to choose what speed to burn at.

To add more data in another session, you can use Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility), although I've never needed to do this, so I'm not sure how that procedure works.

You can use the disk utility to burn some things.

However, and application simply called "Burn" is supposed to be one of the best freeware out there for the Mac.

Just select Finder as the application you want to open when the pop-up menu appears and it will create a burn folder for you. Burn folders have feck-all tweakable options but they get the basic job done OK.

Toast is a really good package and works really well as a converting tool also. Worth the money in my opinion. However i have usde Burn and its a good substitute...especially as its free.
