Has anyone ever gone hostelling by themselves? I was thinking Australia/NZ, know any good websites, where do you Start? Do you easily get to know people?
    Thank You

I found hostels.com the best and then sometimes I used hostelworld.com, they're both really good. Hostels, by their very nature, are quite communal, so it's really easy to fall in with a group or some of the many solo travellers that will most probably be there. I found that everywhere I went anyway. Good luck

i used www.hostelz.com when we were doing the coast of oz and found it pretty good and informative. check out a few websites though (or thorntree.lonelyplanet.com for recent comments on places people stayed).
if you're looking to meet people just hang around the bar and take part in hostel activies and you'll meet loads. if you're anyway of a light sleeper then be warned about the dorms!!

Word of mouth from fellow travellers is a good way to find out about hostels.
