Anyone have knowledge about psqltray.exe? What is its purpose? Is it malware, another Vista problem, or what? Every now and then it sucks up over half my CPU when I check Task Manager processes.

As with anything, it could be legit. or it could be a virus posing as a legit. application. Run HiJackThis! and post the log & scan for viruses, etc.

Otherwise, it is legit. and it is the Protector Suite QL tray launcher (Made by UPEK). Some information would be nice: Did you install it? Did it come pre-installed? What version? Did you just upgrade to Vista, etc?

    Hi Karoma...
Just noticed it last week. Installed VB 2008 about 3 weeks ago. Nothing else new, except for the usual IE7, MS, and Kaspersky IS version 7.0 updates. Been running Vista Ultimate since February (laptop with 2 gigs memory, 2 dual core Centrios at 1.67 and 1.66, 669 FBS, and 220 gigs on two hard drives). Kaspersky AV scan weekly, plus Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, and Defender.
