Checking the liathroidi for lumps... do you?

    I don't really...

I wish there was some kind of quasi-brothel where trained hot women would check my liathroidi for a few quid...

I'd get them checked every month.

    So. Do you?

    Well you should!

Yes of course I do. The most common age group for getting testicular cancer is about 17 - 35 years, and I'm slap bang in the middle of that. The chances of getting it are fairly low of course (about 90 guys a year in Ireland), but still...don't count your balls before they...er...hatch...eh.

I do, but kind of accidentally rather than by plan. Like it just occurs to me while im lyin in bed or whatever. A doctor once told me that guys should check once per month. I'd a scare once where i thought i had something there but it turned out to be some benign thing that went away. Was a scary couple o days though.

There's absolutely no reason not to. Sure we all spend a lot of our alone time with our hands down our pants anyway.

Every week in the shower, all the wiring and such in there gets in the way, you get the occasional scare until you squish the lumpy thing and its soft. Its only hard things you need to worry about yes?

Yeah i asked the doctor that once. Only hard growths that are directly on one of your balls, rather than anything else you might find, is possibly cancerous. If you find anything else down there though, i assume its no harm to get it checked out anyway.

I'll resist the obvious joke that's there somewhere. But yep, a soft lump could mean a number of benign conditions like a hydrocele, or spermatocele...or possibly your just noticing your epididymis for the first time - congradulations if this is the case!

I usually "check" the balls while I'm otherwise occupied in the nether regions.

Well I'm no doctor so here's the next best thing (Wikipedia):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocele
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spermatocele
If you find anything else down there though, i assume its no harm to get it checked out anyway.

Well if it does turn out to be testicular cancer the sooner you get treatment the better, as with anything really. A lot of people don't even need any chemo or radiation therepy. It can often even be cured in the highly advanced stages.

Lance Armstrong describes it all in his book. He had it for 3 years before even going to a doctor. By that stage it had spread to his abdomen, lungs and brain! He was getting headaches and coughing up blood - so then he eventually goes to the doctor . Amazingly enough he's now considered to be effecitively cured...

It makes sense to check every so often. A number of years back I had a scare. Discovered a lump while having a shower. Went to the "vet" straight away. Turned out to be not a tumour... got praise from the "vet" for confronting the issue so promptly. She told me of lads who went into ostrich stance over things like that and ended up in a cancer clinic.

Well done to the OP for posting this thread. It is good to highlight this issue once in a while.

Didn't check them until last year.

A colleague got diagnose with testicular cancer (he's 24) so I've started checking them.

Usually check them once a month or thereabouts.

Good thread to have. Most lads don't think of checking.

Make sure you do. Could save your life.

Yep, give them the once over in the shower.

GF does that for me, she works in the cancer research so knows what to look for better than me.

    Yours or his?

Jokes aside, an excellent thread idea, but I must ask that people refrain from posting anything that may seem like medical advice. As pointed out above, if in doubt - get it checked out by a professional... a doctor, not a trained hot woman in a (quasi-)brothel. ¬_¬

+1 Probably the best way to do it. Quick check every time, better safe than sorry. :)
