Hi, I posted this in the Travel Reports and Reviews thread but i need a reply quick and that one doesn't appear to be very active!

Im flying to JFK with Delta this Saturday (2 days away) with my boyfriend. We booked our flights at the end of August. We booked through GoHop.ie and i was reading through the itinerary they sent us. There was a Delta reference number so i decided to go on their website and log in to double check everything was alright with the flights. They were still there and i saw an option to choose our seats. Clicked this and was surprised to see there was only about 8 seats showing available for the outbound flight so i picked two of them but what i was even more surprised to see was that there was only ONE seat showing available on the return flight!!!...and theres TWO of us!! Im now ****ting myself! Has anyone else ever experienced this?... And what do i do?!!!
    Thanks in advance!

Only a certain amount of seats are allocated for online selection, some are kept back for assigning at check in.

It just means most of the available ones have been selected. It doesn't nessecarily mean there is no room for one of you ;)

Once the aircraft is booked to a certain point you cant assign seats.

    Ring to confirm, I reckon

Thanks guys for your help. I rang them and they said things should be fine.... i've just read so much about them constantly over booking so i got a little worried. I bagsied the seat on the way home anyway, just in case! Also she told me i still have to ring 72 hours before the return flight... apparently standard procedure.

Every airline overbooks by 10% to ensure maximum capasity onboard every flight. Delta always get caught though :(

Like the guys said there are only a set number of seats prebookable online - rest is done at check in. Id definatly reconfirm your flights 24 hours prior to departure both ways, there are loads of flight time changes at the moment!
