I searched my inbox, and the earliest mention seems to be when I got an e-mail from my Tutor about it last April.

Your tutor emails you? I've never even met mine.

I've had two Tutors over my time in College, and both have kept in touch by e-mail, usually letting their Chamber know about new services in College, etc.

People (i.e. not counting things like Board minutes!) actually refer to tutors having Chambers of students? Ah, Trinity.

I think my tutor may be a robot. As such, such wanting to be helpful-ness is not an issue.

My erstwhile Tutor used to begin her e-mails "Dear members of my tutorial chamber,...". :)

At least two lecturers use that expression as well.

I did see, in some official document (can't remember where/why) a discussion of some tutor having a 'half-Chamber', which is cute.

In the first half of the century the tutors had to sort out the bills etc for the students in their chamber (i.e. they had to chase up their students for things like electricity bills) and at one stage they did all sorts of complicated stuff with fees and grants too. Anyway, back on topic (he says, having departed from it) ;)
